A Random Act of Kindness in Honor of James
-Location: Santa Rosa
Today I was in line at Starbucks and a kind person in front of me paid for everyone's coffee. It seriously brought tears to my eyes. I went ahead and learned about James. A very touching story. Thank you for your kindness!

I am so grateful to Lisa and her family for being so generous and paying off my lay-away. What they don't know is that I am a single mom of two children. I was in Kmart a day earlier to pick up my lay-away, which was all the Christmas presents for my kids and I didn't have enough money to do so. I felt awful. I was devastated. I work as a server in a restaurant so I knew that if I had one more day to make tips at work I would have enough to pick up the presents, and I did! So I headed to kmart and stood in line. Little did I know that a young woman named Lisa would approach me and offer to pay off my balance. I was speechless. What an incredible thing to do. She paid for all my kids toys this Christmas. I cried instantly because I was so touched at the generosity of a stranger. She told me about her brother and I felt so honored to be a part of this "random act of kindness." I hugged Lisa and wished her a Merry Christmas. But I wish I could have talked with her more. Maybe I was in disbelief? Or maybe I was just shocked. But I want her and her family to know that I am forever grateful for such a blessing. I left the store with a smile from ear to ear. I wanted to share my story. I wanted everyone to know what just happend...to me!. This was so incredible and I feel so moved by experiencing such kindness. I want to wish the Jewett family a Merry Christmas. They are amazing.

I was so touched by the story of James and the beautiful spirit of his family to honor him with acts of kindness that I wanted to honor his memory with some acts of kindness of my own. I have paid for peoples coffee at Starbucks, left some large tips in restaurants, allowed people to go ahead of me in line and many more small things all with James in mind. God Bless you and wishes for a blessed Christmas and New Year.

In honor of James I visited the Sonoma County Animal Control shelter. The doggies were happy to receive some special and treats. In the afternoon I went shopping at Trader Joe's just as they captured an injured crow that was hiding under the flower section at the store entrance. I offered to take the crow to the bird rescue center and was happy to hear that the outlook for a full recovery is good. Thank you.

Last night my good friend Sandra & I went out for pre-Christmas dinner as we treasure our friendship. We are both dealing with recent breakups. Imagine our shock when our waiter told us the dinner was on him in James memory! And to pass it forward. So I posted this story on FB with James obit. A lot of people moved by it! Today I went to Doran Beach to do my morning walk. I paid for the three cars behind me. The ranger said "That's awesome!". Hopefully the 3 cars will pass if forward too. That waiter picked a table where I do pay it forward often as I can and loved the movie Pay It Forward. Rest in Peace James!
- Thank you for being such an inspiration James. We think of you every day, but especially today. And it was so wonderful to show love to others in your honor. We got to leave quarters at a laundromat to surprise the next person in, hide Christmas cards for people to find, give gift cards for food, and put together a bag full of toiletries and a tarp for people in need. And it brought so much joy to us to be able to give something from our hearts today. We love you so much James.

- You and your family have been in our hearts all year, but this time of year, especially, we think of you and appreciate how, at such a young age, you inspire us. With all that you had to deal with, you lived a full life. When I feel overwhelmed, all I have to think of is your strength. You were able to be a wonderful son, friend, brother and uncle and accomplish so much and it gives me strength. I want you to know that because of you, Bob and I are coming up with private ways to honor your memory with random acts of kindness. Thank you for the inspiration and strength.
